The primary responsibility of the Fiberglass Chop Gun Operator is to operate the chop gun and other equipment in the manufacturing process to create high-quality fiberglass tubs. The ideal candidate should be experienced with chop gun operation and have a strong commitment to safety and quality, producing high-quality fiberglass parts. You will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and should be able to operate machinery efficiently while ensuring that production targets are met. 

 

FLSA Classification: Hourly non-exempt

Type: Full-time

Salary Range: $25 to $30 per hour

Work Hours: 7 am to 4 pm

Reports to: VP of Manufacturing

Location: 100% onsite

 

Essential Duties

  • Operate chopper gun machine to manufacture fiberglass showers and tubs.

  • Read and interpret production orders to determine specifications such as dimensions, quantity, and quality standards.

  • Monitor the quality of the fiberglass material being used to ensure compliance with production standards.

  • Adjust machinery settings as needed to ensure optimal performance and quality.

  • Clean and maintain the chopper gun machine to ensure proper functioning.

  • Troubleshoot and repair machinery issues as needed.

  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure that production targets are met.

  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean and safe work environment.

  • Follow established company policies and procedures.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • At least 2 years of experience operating a machine in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret production orders, blueprints, and technical documents.

  • Basic math skills and ability to use measurement tools such as tape measures and calipers.

  • Attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work.

  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in the fiberglass industry servicing HVLP spray guns, resin-fiberglass chop spray guns, resin mixing equipment, heat tunnels, and other industry.

  • Technical ability, problem-solving orientation, good practical skills, manual dexterity

  • Ability to read and understand electrical and plumbing schematics for service repairs.

  • Prior experience as a chopper gun operator is preferred.

  • Valid driver's license Preferred Requirements.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk, stand, and lift heavy objects for an extended period.

  • Use their hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.

  • Repeat the same movements while wearing PPE the entire day.

  • Bend or twist their body and move and lift at least 50 pounds.

  • The employee spends most of the day on their feet and must follow strict safety rules.

  • They wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, hard-toe shoes, and Tyvek paint suits, as necessary.
